Bill
Gates, the richest person in the world with a net worth of $75 billion,
has a net worth greater than the GDP of 122 countries. If Bill Gates
were to liquidate all of his assets, he would be able to buy all the
final goods and services supplied in Myanmar in a single year. Following
the same logic, 540 American billionaires could chip in all of their
assets and barter them for the annual amount of the goods and services
produced by India.

According
to the 2016 Forbes Billionaires List, the aggregate wealth of the
world's 1,810 billionaires is $6.5 trillion, exceeding the GDP of
Japan, the world's third-largest economy by GDP. Put another way, the
wealth of 0.00002 percent of the world's population accounts for 9
percent of the world's GDP ($74 trillion as of 2016 estimate).
